I shot this video of Grandview Drive in Peoria Heights, Illinois a few years ago. With a Gro-Pro attached to my car I drove the entire length of the drive. I forgot I had this video, and since we are all homebound with Covid-19 and unable to travel, I thought I would post this. It is for those of you originally from Peoria that can’t travel back right now. This video is also for those of you that still live there that are staying home. Enjoy this drive down Grandview drive from the comfort of your own home!
For those that don’t live in Peoria or that are not from Peoria, the drive was named by President Theodore Roosevelt. While passing through Peoria, he called this drive the “World’s Most Beautiful Drive!” This became so famous locally that one of the local TV/Radio stations was and is called WMBD.
It really is a beautiful place and it has amazing homes. If you want to see an aerial view of Grandview Drive you can see some great footage in our Drone Tour of Peoria. Grandview Drive offers stunning views of the Illinois River (best seen from afar). The best time to visit Grandview Drive is in the fall when the leaves are changing. The Peoria Country Club and Golf Course is located off the drive as well.
Peoria and Peoria Heights are about 2 1/2 – 3 hours South of Chicago Illinois along the Illinois River on Interstate 74. It has a tri-county population of about 400,000. Peoria was traditionally the headquarters of the Caterpillar Tractor company. Peoria was incorporated as a city in 1845.
It is home to the Par-a-dice Casino and the Peoria Chiefs Class A minor league baseball team.
